My Goodwood Revival blog goes international

My Goodwood Revival blog goes international!! Back in September I shot the 2016 Goodwood Revival for Portuguese motorsport website www.iberianmph.com. I was pleased that my photos were just what they were looking for & were very happy with them.

It seems that my Historic Motorsport Photography wasn’t the only thing they liked. When their editorial team read my blog post about the Goodwood Revival meeting they really enjoyed it. I was thrilled & surprised when they asked could they reproduce it on their website? Does that make me a ‘Journalist’ now too?!!  Errrr… don’t think so, but it’s nice to hear that not only do people like to see my photos but they enjoy my write ups too.

It’s quite cool seeing my write up there on www.iberianmph.com translated into Portuguese. I haven’t mastered English yet so I’m glad I didn’t have to write the article myself. It appears they have guest contributors regularly on the website. So maybe once my 2017 season gets underway I could be sending them a few more items to translate & publish.

Time to break out the Tweed…. 2016 Goodwood Revival meeting here I come

It’s been an interesting few weeks since my visit to the Silverstone Classic to shoot the Historic car racing. This has lead to the opportunity for another first for me & a visit to the famous 2016 Goodwood Revival Meeting.

My photo collection from the Silverstone Classic seems to have gone down really well. I’ve had some print sales & requests to share images on some of the driver’s social media sites. It’s always nice to know how much other people like my photos. So it was great when I got a call from Mark at Spindrift Media, with the chance of another shoot. A media colleague from Portugal had been in contact with him. Their photographer had been called away & was now unable to cover an event….. did he know a photographer?!!?! “It just so happens I do….take a look at his website” was his reply!

I’m thrilled to now be shooting the Goodwood Revival for the only Iberian based website covering the event, iberianmph.com & their media partner, Spain’s One Magazine.

2016 Goodwood Revival Meeting (9th -11th Sept)

This fantastic event shares a lot with the Silverstone Classic. Flat out wheel-to-wheel racing on the track with hundreds of rare and priceless cars, from historic yesteryear of motorsport. What sets it apart is the period dress worn by the vast majority of the spectating crowds. Ladies in their furs and frocks, gentlemen in their tweeds and trilbies. All help to create the uniquely stylish atmosphere that sets the Revival apart from all other motor racing events. It is quite simply a photographer’s dream both on & off the track, I can hardly wait…. but wait I will have to because the week before I have another appointment with some beautiful machinery!!

Windsor Concours of Elegance (2nd – 4th Sept)

Held within the glorious grounds of Windsor Castle, The Concours of Elegance will once again bring together a selection of 60 of the rarest cars from around the world. Many of which will never have been seen before in the UK. The 3 day event begins on Friday with the ‘Grand Arrival’ as these fantastic cars drive up the Long Walk to take their place inside the castle quadrangle. Saturday sees cars from the Aston Martin, Ferrari, Jaguar, Bentley and Rolls-Royce owners’ clubs, arrive & park along the long walk on public display. Sunday concludes with the sight & not forgetting the sound of those 60 classic engines firing up before making their way back down the spectacular Long Walk.

The Nikons will certainly be kept busy on these 6 fantastic days of Motoring History …

Daytona Karting – Sandown Park

A return visit to a client for golf photos turned into an impromptu motorsport shoot at Daytona Karting – Sandown Park.

Start the day with golf…

This week I had the pleasure of returning to the Dominic Toms Golf Academy, Sandown Park Golf Centre HQ. I was there to take more photos for their website in readiness for the launch of their new Trackman Studio. All went well with new coaching team profiles shots. We finished ahead of time with plans to return next week to shoot some evening floodlit shots of the driving range & studio.

Walking back to the car I could hear engines coming from behind high hedges, far side of the car park. So as I had some time to spare I went over to see if I could get a few photos… Seemed rude not to!!

Finish with Daytona Karting – Sandown Park…

The engine noise turned out to be Go karts flying around the track at Daytona Karting – Sandown Park. I explained who I was & that I had overheard the karts while working across at the golf range….& wondered if it was possible to take a few photos of the next session for my website & send them a few photos as a thank you! Insurance paperwork formalities complete, I was soon kitted out with a HiVis vest & briefed on where I was able to go to take my photos.

I then spent the next hour or so finding great angles to photography the karts racing past. A couple of drivers were absolutely flying!! I had a great time trying to capture shots of their battle, & thank you to Mark Priddy in his Spindrift Media race wear, for driving the wheel off it for me!!!
