Goodwood Revival, 2016
The Goodwood Revival meeting is a one off when it comes to motorsport. This fantastic 3 day event shares a lot with the Silverstone Classic. Firstly there’s the flat out wheel-to-wheel racing on the track with hundreds of rare and priceless cars, from historic yesteryear of motorsport. In addition there are also vintage aircraft on display both on the ground & exciting flying displays. So I was overjoyed as you can imagine to granted my media pass to Goodwood Revival, 2016.
What really sets it apart though, is the period dress worn by the vast majority of the spectating crowds. Ladies in their furs and frocks, gentlemen in their tweeds and trilbies all help to create the uniquely stylish atmosphere. I have never been to a motor racing event quite like it, totally unique. It is quite simply a photographer’s dream both on & off the track.
“It’s like walking back perfectly into a black and white photograph, except it’s in colour and 3D, it’s amazing.”…….Jools Holland, Musician.
You will see from some of the photos, it absolutely poured down on the 2nd day. As a result many spectators either got completely soaked & donned waterproofs if they had them. While it spoilt the spectacle of their period costumes it didn’t however dampen their spirits. If they weren’t lining the track in their thousands, they were Jiving in the dance tents!!
I hope you enjoy looking through this collection of some of my favourite photos from this very special event.
