Goodwood Revival 2018
The Goodwood Revival 2018 meeting is a one off when it comes to motorsport. Every September the Revival recreates the golden era of Goodwood Motor Circuit, between 1948 and 1966. Now acclaimed to be the largest Historic Motor Racing event in the World. This extraordinarily unique event assembles the most significant racing cars and motorcycles of the period. Along with legendary drivers and riders from the past and stars of today.
The romance and glamour of motor racing as it used to be. The Revival is the only historic race meeting to be staged entirely in period dress and is a return to the halcyon days of Goodwood as the spiritual home of British motor racing. I have never been to a motor racing event quite like it, totally unique. It is quite simply a photographer’s dream both on & off the track.
It’s an unabashed (not all the cars could say that by the end) celebration of flat-out wheel-to-wheel racing. Incredible speeds around the sweeps and curves of this classic circuit, which remains unchanged since its heyday. The first Revival opened 1998, when the Earl of March drove around the circuit in the very car his grandfather, the 9th Duke of Richmond, opened the track 50 years before. It’s now the world’s most celebrated historic motor racing event, with race fans coming from all over the country & the world to soak up the unique atmosphere in period costume.
I have been to Goodwood Revival 3 times now. First year it absolutely poured down on the 2nd day, year 2 it attempted to soak me on all 3 days!! It made not a jot of difference, I loved every minute of it. This year I had it dry the whole time…yayyy, I was beginning to think I had jinxed it.
I hope you enjoy looking through this collection of some of my favourite photos from this very special event.
